Great news on a truly stakeholder-driven qualification development process by the National Cleaner Production Centre South Africa, in which two new OQF Occupational Certificates in Cleaner Energy Technology have been developed and successfully registered on the OQF and SAQA. I am holding thumbs for
I am holding thumbs for a quality implementation of this necessary qualification for our emerging renewable and clean energy sectors in South Africa. With the advent of the Wind, Solar and related roll-outs, key skill and labor market needs in this area are only partially addressed. This is a step in providing much-needed skills provision in a sector that could generate some significant employment opportunities.
Over the past 2 years the National Cleaner Production Centre of South Africa (NCPC-SA) has been instrumental in developing these qualifications. In partnership with UNIDO, the Industrial Energy Efficiency Project initiated the process for these qualifications to be developed. Credit also goes to GIZ and their Building Energy Audit Technician Project that aided the qualification development process greatly.
It fills us with some satisfaction to advise that the Energy Efficiency Technician (Energy Audit Technician) Occupational Qualification, ID number 99426 has been registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) by SAQA, at level 6. The EWSETA is the designated Quality Assurance Partner for this qualification, with further capacity and support from the NCPC-SA.
