Well done to our very own Skills-Universe Sylvia Hammond for the 'Understanding the Skills Development Act' a Juta Pocket Companion!

By ashwellglasson, 15 March, 2011

It is great to recommend new training and learning resources for skills planners, programme developers and trainers alike. Sylvia Hammond along with Vusi Mabena and Elize Strydom have produced a wonderful pocket guide to the Skills Development Act. It is up-to-date with some of the latest information and is most likely one of the newst little resources on the shelves. It is a concise and well-written resource, sitting at a snug 206 pages, approximately A6 in size. Just bigger than a Blackberry cell phone and of course Blackberry's do not provide specific advice on the SDA yet. Who knows with smart phone technology. Humour aside, I highly recommend it to all ETD and human resource professionals as a rich-resource that should be close at hand, or in your hand. Either in your shelf at the office, or potentially as part of your training and learning materials for any learners undergoing any of the OD-ETDP qualifications and unt standards. For HR professionals that have training and developement responsibilities, it makes for a great reference resource, when dealing with everything from the QCTO through to the National Skills Fund. For traiining providers it unpacks some of the pending changes to education, training and quality assurance processes rather nicely. Congratulations again Sylvia.
