Telkom Donates 500k To Flood Relief
Greetings of Peace

Dear Recipients

South Africans stand up as an UBUNTU nation. Even in times of financial stress with less than favourable economic growth indices, job losses and unemployment, the spirit of giving never wanes. Big companies, small companies, private individuals, professionals, even the unemployed and those that just lost jobs recently make contributions in their own way to assist fellow humans in difficulty.

Today its flood victims in South Africa; last year it was the victims of the horrendous Haiti earthquake at exactly the same date and time as right now. It was at that time that Gift of the Givers Search and Rescue Team made history for Africa. For the first time ever in the history of earthquakes in the world, an African team pulled out a survivor from the ruins of an earthquake. The fortunate individual, 64 year old Ena Zizi, was rescued from the rubble of a Catholic Church, live in full view of the world's media. It was also during the time of the Haiti earthquake that Telkom donated R500 000 to Gift of the Givers to benefit those victims.

Today, exactly a year later Telkom donates R500 000 to Gift of the Givers once again but this time to benefit victims of the floods in South Africa. Not only are they making the contribution, but they will join our teams as we continue with the distribution in Mamelodi at 11am today, this time in Hintlerland Street, Phomolong.

A special "Thank You" amongst others to Unilever that have just flooded our warehouses in Johannesburg and Pietermaritzburg with millions of rands of personal and household hygiene products to assist flood victims.
