CHAD LE CLOS INSPIRES THE YOUTH OF SOUTH AFRICA TO CELEBRATE NELSON MANDELA DAY
South Africa’s Olympian Gold Medalist takes break from training for Barcelona Swimming World Championships to send a Message of Goodwill to the Youth of South Africa
South African swimming sensation and recent recipient of the Future Leaders SA Award for SA Sport Personality of the Year 2013, took time out of his busy training schedule for the Barcelona World Swimming Championships to send a Message of Goodwill to the Youth of South Africa.
Chad’s message is simple and sincere “Never give up on your dreams! Stay true to yourself !”.
Chad Le Clos and his father, Bert, took time out to meet with Don Leffler and Cathy Foden of CDII (Community Development Initiatives International) which is hosting an International Nelson Mandela Day Event in Cullinan, near Pretoria, on 18 July 2013 to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day.
Chad, who is every South Africans favourite swimmer, said “I have been inspired by all that Madiba stands for and for all that he has given to all of us as South Africans. I hope that each of us can, in some way, follow the footsteps of Madiba to ensure that his legacies continue to inspire all generations to make a difference”.
Chad is in training for the Barcelona World Championships and hopes to perform well as part of his build-up to the Commonwealth Games next year.
Says CDII’s Don Leffler “the youth seek role models who give them confidence and belief in their own dreams and aspirations. Sportsmen like Chad Le Clos make us believe that our dreams are achievable.”
So, while Chad is preparing hard to fly the South African flag high in Barcelona, CDII will be hosting a very special Event in Cullinan to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 95th Birthday and to acknowledge all that he has sacrificed for our country and our people.
CDII, in partnership with the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, the Gauteng North Netball Association, Football Legend, Humphrey Mlawane, Cullinan Diamond Mine, the Arts Revelation Dance Ensemble and the City of Tshwane will host a Community Youth Sports Development Programme to introduce sport into the impoverished communities of Regions 5 and 7 of Tshwane.
