Glynis – if work across all those SETAs please can I ask you to assist me to complete the document I have been compiling on the different information required for each SETA, in terms of time period of the reported information, whether it is the same PIVOTAL as the ATR/WSP, and the OFO year version.
To save you searching I have attached the latest…[Read more]
Thank you for your follow-up. I must be honest – these Setas with the: are they extended, have you the right to do the extension, etc. is driving me quietly crazy.
Please see the print screen from my laptop of the link from the W&RSeta Home page.
This is the link to a video giving a very clear explanation of COVID-19 in plain language, by Graeme Meintjies of the University of Cape Town’s Department of Medicine. He is an infectious diseases expert at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town.
One of the points he explains clearly is that this is not “the” corona virus, this is “a” corona v…[Read more]
Excellent Marlie – just what I needed to know on both counts.
Thank you Marlie, I really appreciate your response and clarification.
I am not sure I understand about the Regulations. If it would be a contravention of the existing Regulations, how is it that so many of the SETAs have already issued an extension?
On the applications, yes on a personal note I have submitted 2 applications, but have not…[Read more]
I have received the attached document – I am unsure of its status as it is entitled “Draft”, and the last page does not have the intended contact details.
However, looking at sections 41, and 42.9 there is an advice to the SETAs to extend the WSP/ATR submission date until 31 May 2020. So I have published for that reason.
I am not entirely clear…[Read more]
Almost at the end of wek one and things are looking very good Thank God.
How are you all doing out there, I trust you are all staying virus free and are in good health. If we observe all of the rules I believe we will get through this period with minimal infection and few deaths. Please ask all your friends to abide by the rules for another two…[Read more]
On 1 April 2020 South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) issued an announcement of the launch of their newly designed website.
In view of the date, I thought I should check it first before posting. It is genuine, and the site does look very nice.
One problem I found, I thought I would take advantage of the customer care option to lodge a…[Read more]

Empty shelves – every man/woman for themselves, profiteering and price gouging by suppliers – reminds me of an expression from the 70s – coined by UK Prime Minister Edward Heath – “the unacceptable face of capitalism”.
BUT in opposition to the self-interest, there are numerous examples of community spirit, and organisations working towards…[Read more]

Members will understand, it is not usual for a website to attract members and users away onto other websites. However this central summary of support for small business must be an exception – see this site for summary of support available:
The W&R Seta has now extended the deadline submission date for Annexure II submission – that is
WSP/ATR/PIVOTAL plan documents –
now extended from 30 April 2020 to 31 May 2020.
two points from this discussion:
first, once you have the information- please then check whether the registration is correct. It should be based upon what your client does, and then following from that, what the majority training need will be for employees. If it is incorrect then you can do an inter-seta transfer.
second, Maryna who…[Read more]

Fake news is a problem but is also especially dangerous in the time of a pandemic.
The fake news posts are not only produced by individuals, but also by organised bodies trying to sew dissent and to post medically dangerous advice.
Under the declaration of a disaster, it is now an offence attracting a fine or jail sentence – or both.
Thank you Sylvia. gret to know you are an essential service and that you will be on line. take care and stay safe. Regards to Alan and all the staff.
