Rufaz M Mavhure replied to the topic Xenophobia in the SETAs? in the forum Accreditation Processes 5 years, 10 months ago
I wish i had the legal freedom to name drop the reputable training providers who pay in the form on which my honest suggestion is based on. However i agree with you but remember; be that as it may we all know foreigners will accept any rate. As much as they negotiate we have latitude to lower down because we know they will say YES. Its a debatable…[Read more]

At some point we have to acknowledge that most of the Facilitators within Training industry are foreigners especially Zimbabweans. As much as most service providers under pay them ( low daily rates) it bothers that some like to use them for more profits while detesting them. Best is to name the very SETA Provincial Manager who had such xenophobic…[Read more]

Rufaz M Mavhure replied to the topic Academic Literacy in the forum Learning Material Development 6 years, 11 months ago
I have seen some Providers have forms on which Facilitators comment about manuals.Noting spelling mistakes; relevance etc. This turns out to be useless excercise as the forms wont be used for any value addition. So much papers works but zero value in the end.

It is an open secret that most training materials are plagiarised or copy and paste from one manual to another. Check how most Learnerships manuals are “fattened with same section on Communication'”. Sad reality is material development has been left to a few connected who can quickly get approvals. Worse most manualS are not updated. Someone s…[Read more]

Brilliant constructive discussion by all. I 100% agree. If a customer is listed as a “Bad Payer’ and all providers shun then the client will pay fast. Need for some processes reengineering. BUT i have one service provider(Training Company) in Jozi who refused to pay (individual service) even telling Labour Department ” I wont pay”. Times for f…[Read more]

With all due respect what do you exepect when a 30% is a pass mark??? All subjects should have a 50% plus as pass mark. We work on overal say matric pass rate and not output.I close my eye when Minister announces pass rates of 70%+nationally when we know 96% in the 70 is all marks below 40%. Bring back the 50% passmark ; 49% and below is a fail.

A lizard that falls from an iroko tree phraises itself if no one does. Imagine African leaders with 20 body guards and 8 motorcades burning 200 litres fuels for Jozi to Pretoria trip only. Country not at war but defense budget biggest and highest in how far??? The proposal was over a glass of wine not worth being taken seriously.More bigger things…[Read more]

If the Presidency cut its catering bills; travels for spouses and get down to 3 star hotels then we can make sense out of the proposals. Why does government engage too many Consultants when there are DGs with fat packs already?. Government can do more in slashing expenditures first. Good idea from a wrong office rather!!!

Subjects done in schools today have little or no practicals.I remember doing Cambridge O levels in the late 80s .One had to have at least 2 practical subjects among Metal work;Agriculture;Woodwork;Fashion and Fabrics; Food and Nutrition. Then, if we add theoretical subjects like Business Management;Commerce,Accounts those who go in business will…[Read more]

It sounds a noble idea.Courses like:Business Management;Small Enterprise management;Management of Change;Financial Management will be of grate help to learners. For this to be successful learners should start from classroom set up (theory and practicals) before being thrown in the dip end.Remember we still need workers for the so called business to…[Read more]
