I just want some clarity regarding an internal moderation of a skills programme as to whether we MUST moderate all the learners or is it a certain percentage just like the learnership?
We have 31 learners on a SP with 55 credits but some of the learners dropped out before completing the SP. Some have only completed 16, 25 34 credits…[Read more]

Careful reading …….. I requested my learning records from SAQA in 2019, and was so surprised that even my Gr12 (Senior Certificate) was recorded on the NLRD. All the Qualifications and Unit Standards through the years were recorded. Every single one of them. And there are more being added, as they are linked to the NQF, they are registered,…[Read more]

Can you please advise how Assessors/Moderators can get accredited under QCTO and what the requirements are?
Is it true that qualifications with less than 8credits will not be accredited under QCTO, what does that mean for companies to do Lifting machine operators? -

For those that are following the progress on this appeal from Providers to scrap the stipulated rule of 8 credits (minimum duration of 2 weeks) for occupational skills programmes to be registered, approved and accredited. For those that have supported the survey, the first submission to appeal the 8 credit stipulation on “occupational” skills programs with a minimum of 2 weeks of duration, has been submitted on the 6th of September. We await possible solutions or feedback.

The current stats to appeal the decision and stipulation of skills programmes and/or short programmes less than 8 credits (2 weeks of training) that will not be registered or approved by the QCTO- 59.6% will close doors, 37.1% will down-size and retrench staff. We are not at our target as yet – but let me show you what the impact is at the moment with small providers offering short programmes that are less than 2 weeks (and accredited to run it) 57.4% will have to close their doors and 39.3% will need to downsize and retrench staff. We have been informed that short programmes that are less than 2 full weeks (8 credits) will not be registered or considered for accreditation under the QCTO.
