Hi Marilize,
I specialise in TETA accreditation, mostly for lifting machine operators which are subject to Regulatory requirements that make their applications and operations somewhat dissimilar to standard accreditation. It is a specialised area in which unfortunately standard accreditation processes are not applicable and I have, over the last…[Read more] -

Do you know what it is like to be sitting without employment because the authority which has supported your livelihood for many years, suddenly and without warning or justifiable cause, withdraws that support?
Do you understand the repercussions of a 20-year-old business suddenly under threat of closure due to the same authority suffering delays,…[Read more]

Hi Nigel
I am still unable to login to Skills Universe, thus would you be so kind to post the following on my behalf?I would also like to voice my concerns and frustrations on experiences with TETA and QCTO and also do not care to stay anonymous. Through the years and still today I am struggling with TETA, their lack of…[Read more]

Hi Sylvia,
At this stage they are set to fall away in 2023 but at present there is nothing available from QCTO to replace these, particularly the regulated fields of lifting machinery, dangerous goods and First Aid. The legacy qualifications are still very much alive and continuing, most probably because of the OHS Act/Road Traffic Regulations…[Read more] -

Hi Sylvia,
That would indeed be an interesting statistic. I have three examples of practitioners who have been reduced to zero scope, effectively preventing them from working. In other examples that have been reported to me, one assessor was to receive his reduced scope while assessing for a Learnership. Midway in the Learnership his scope was…[Read more] -

Thank you Renee’, ultimately, the value of these surveys depends on the reaction of the authorities. Previous surveys many years ago were nothing but show. I would rather they experience the hardships to which SDP’s and practitioners are being subjected and make necessary adjustments, but let’s hope the survey will bring this to light. It is…[Read more]

H Colette,
Thank you, mail sent.As far as confidentiality is concerned, I have no issue with being identified, despite the general attitude of sticking heads up rear ends, I have no doubt those I have referred to in the mail are well aware of my presence. There appears to be a distinct denial of the reality of circumstances faced by SDP’s and…[Read more]

Pennywise the clown has returned!
Not in Derry, Maine, USA, but right here in SA, this time not targeting children but rather hard-working people in the training sector whose efforts are being rewarded with horrifying disrespect and ancient evil of incomprehensible unfeeling.

Just as a matter of interest, this was posted against a particular SETA whose sensitivities would no doubt be invoked if named, but whose sensitivities do not extend to the providers and practitioners who they are supposed to serve. Are there other of these extremely fragile SETA’s out there where providers and practitioners have been subjected…[Read more]

Thank you Bev and Hugo,
Over the last two or three months I have warned this SETA of possible legal actions and other exposure, (none of which will reflect positively on the SETA) but it appears this has, as is their custom, fallen on deaf ears (maybe they were sliced off by Freddy?) The slaughter has continued unabated and apparently we have no…[Read more] -

Freddy, Jason, Michael and their crew of happy slashers are fictional characters with an endless number of escapades bespattered with blood and gore.
In reality, we have SETA’s to offer the cringe factor, far more destructive and psychopathic than any of the TV/film blade wielding, blood spattered miscreants.
Here we have a SETA which is c…[Read more]

Wow Tass,
Classic tale of having delivered, the motivation to make a payment is gone. What were the terms of the agreement with this “well known” person? Was there a signed agreement regarding the work you did? It appears that “well known” doesn’t necessarily mean trustworthy or honest. Hi Sylvia,
Just as a follow on, it is noted that DEL (then DoL) were very accommodating regarding considering the number of training providers and SETA’s who held First Aid unit standards outside of HWSETA. It was a considered approach to amend the Regulation accordingly, bearing in mind that like a lot of OHS related topics, First Aid has a…[Read more] -

Hi Sylvia,
These were the two original docs from 2016 and 2017. In the first one, HWSETA is stipulated as the SETA, but the amended version that followed in Dec 2017 after the meeting removed the HWSETA specific requirement and replaced it with a SETA holding First Aid unit standards within it’s scope. There are a number of SETA’s who hold scope…[Read more] -

Hi Sylvia,
The original reg stated HWSETA but was later changed by removing HWSETA and permitting accreditation by other SETA’s that hold First Aid unit standards within their scope. This occurred following a meeting with DEL, QCTO, SETA’s and training providers, where DEL was made aware that there were already hundreds of providers accredited…[Read more] - Load More
