Dr Cas Olivier has been a moderator for many of my materials and a mentor (yes, I can say) over more than a decade. I recently “attended” his programme on thinking tools via Zoom and benefited tremendously in terms of my new approach to designing and developing learning programme materials in line with the development of critical thinking skills.

There are currently no guidelines – and I doubt whether there will be in the near future. I have, however, just completed the materials for the full level 5 qualification OC: Learning and Development Practitioner, and can only say that it is quite an intense process. In addition to developing learner guides on all the Knowledge Components,…[Read more] -

It is certainly much easier to navigate the site. I can, for example, easily refer training provider clients as to where to advertise for or find freelance practitioners.
What I do miss, however, and I am sure it is only because of my ignorance, is that I no longer receive e-mails notifying me of posts on the groups to which I belong.…[Read more] -

Desiree, it is a funny thing as I have not signed an SLA with Timley Consulting (Pty) Ltd – or a company wit this as trading name.

Interesting e-mail received from the ServiceSETA new LMIS Admin system “Moderator use by Training provider” then a number and a training provider’s name. Does anybody know what this means – is the SETA now alerting practitioners that a provider may be using the practitioner’s details irregularly? Have never heard of the provider who is mentioned
-
Hi, Wow – I’m glad that WE ARE FINALLY then getting such information from Services Seta. I think it definitely means your information is being used. I’d appreciate it if you could please share more detail of what the SETA says it actually means? I think this is one of our only forms of protection re who is using our information without us even…[Read more]

Hi Marie
Yes, all it means is that once you have signed an SLA with a SP and its submitted to SSETA then you will receive an sms to say that the SP is using your details as an Assessor/Moderator. Great to see improvements coming through. Also be very mindful to check the SP Trading Name as sometimes they differ to the SLA name.
Kind Regards

I would contact Timley Consulting and find out who is using your Assessor Details.

I just HAVE to share this compliment for SkillPortal on this lovely, sunny Monday morning!
A client in Pretoria needs the freelancing services of assessors for Qual 57712. An enquiry to the relevant SETA (which I had to resend and wait another week for a reply) elicited the following response:
Please note we don’t have an updated list of a…[Read more] -

Very valuable inputs based on your experience, Ilana. Some of these were in line with what I had thought would be the requirement.
Would you please clarify where the OHS auditors must be registered? Thanks -

Andrea, I have been experiencing exactly the same type of problems with the relevant SETA. It is a contracted training provider that does the evaluations. Last year I was called three times to ask for remediation documents (that resulted because they had lost documents) after I had received an e-mail to confirm that the evaluation had been…[Read more]

We had a meeting arranged (via Outlook meeting invite) with the ETQA Executive for last Friday at 10:00. Drove all the way from Pretoria to their Head Office. Thank you, Marli. I must admit that there are numerous grey areas for me in terms of OCs and QCTO. I was giving the 120 credits as an example based on the old qualification for W&R Operations NQF2. I note that a qualification for checkout operator is marked ‘Council submission’ on the QCTO qualifications database but cannot find an explanation of…[Read more]
