Excellent news from Foodbev Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA). Our media is dominated by public service financial mismanagement. So hopefully this information provides a little counterbalance to the situation.
At the Foodbev SETA Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in Cape Town on 22 November, 2019 the Chief Executive Officer (CEO),…[Read more]

Hi Janelle,
thanks for your post – good to hear from you.I agree and understand everything that has been posted – but I ask myself – does the person/management – who needs to ask these questions – know about what they should be asking – and why.

Oh, I forgot to mention:
When the Employer evaluates the Accreditation Letter, they must ensure that the legal registered name on the accreditation letter is exactly the same as on the cipc registration document. Most important check. Remember, that the DHET does not accept the trading name at all, and unfortunately some of the SETA have issued…[Read more]

This specific discussion is far greater than what we think it is. Some important points to consider when contracting with an accredited provider:
1. Is the Provider accredited (obtain accreditation letter with learning programme approved scope which clearly indicates what the provider is accredited and approved for).
2. What is the expiry date…[Read more] -

Thanks Lynel,
That is all very interesting information. In fact, when I was writing, I had in mind providers that are not in the system at all.
I think the most important information is for companies who are procuring the training – to know what the correct questions are. I can definitely say that not all companies know what to ask.
Maybe we…[Read more]

Hi Sylvia,
You are most welcome. The DHET is especially looking at what an accredited provider markets (the what, and the how). Some providers are marketing their programmes (accredited and non-accredited/non-approved) under one banner, whereby learners understand that all programmes are accredited and credit-bearing, whereby they are not. The…[Read more] -

Hi Lynel
Thanks for that explanation.I think just one additional comment is necessary:
If a training provider offers some form of training – that does not lead to qualifications or part qualifications, and is not accredited, and the provider does not make any such allegation, or misrepresentation – they can still provide that informal training. -

Hi David,
Do they need to use your credentials as an Assessor? If so, there is no set amount. Some Assessors and Moderators do this at no fee, but sign a Service Level Agreement, that once the company obtains their accreditation that the assessments will be given to you, whereby you will charge accordingly. Then there are Assessors/Moderators…[Read more] -
