Does the letter of intent have a validity period? I have received my letter from the SSETA but still awaiting Assessor registration to be completed. TIA
Starting this year with a lot of educated confused individuals. I am not sure if I am the one that are losing my marbles, or the fact that individuals are not educated correctly. A couple of facts needs to be placed on record:
1. If an individual pays an accredited provider to become an Assessor, Moderator and/or Facilitator then you should know…[Read more]

I have finally received my letter from the QCTO yesterday, 16th Jan. However, I was not aware that one should submit separate Letter of Intent for each and every Seta that they are accredited with as the each QCTO employee deals with a particular Seta. When I brought this up with a lady called Petunia (she only deals with MICT) and…[Read more]

Great thanks for comprehensive response Lynel.
& thanks for the explanation – and also the DHET lists.
There should be no confusion on what learning programmes are recognised, accredited, approved, linked to the NQF. If you are marketing accredited learning programmes, then the provider must have proof of their accreditation with the correct Authority. If you market that you are offering accredited programmes but you do not have your documents,…[Read more]
Thank you – that is a very interesting question. I do not know the answer.
Are there any ministry study qualifications registered on the NQF?
I will send a message to Lynel & ask her as she has been actively involved in this area.
Thank you Brian, you make a very interesting point.
We know that there are actions in place already to standardise quality assurance in the SADC region, and recently Botswana advertised a position.
So it will be very easy to obtain the equivalence of the qualifications achieved in those countries.
But is it a good idea for our economy to be…[Read more]
Are churches that offer ministry studies going to be affected? Most churches are not accreditted and they do not make that disclosure. Some claim to be accreditted internationally but SAQA does not recognise them. Are they also going to get a visit from DHET?
Unfortunately, the terms are being used inter-changeably and regrettably even to describe well-established international Institutions that had been allowed to operate in the past.
However, if one pursues studies with these Institutions outside the borders of SA, SAQA will recognise them and will issue an equivalency certificate.
I am…[Read more]

That really is very concerning.
I would suggest contact senior QCTO management directly – they are in the process of recovering the mandated quality assurance responsibilities of the SETAs.
Dear all -I realise that I am going to accused of being pedantic – but English is a complex language with odd idiomatic expressions that confuse non-first language users.
So to my understanding –
– a “fly by night” college – offers something, takes money, and then disappears with the money – without providing what they offered;
– a bogus…[Read more]

I tried emailing the QCTO today on the official link on their website, and got the attached back… I am seriously worried about the future of training. Is anyone else affected?

A lot is being said recently re fly by night providers and providers not registered with appropriate departments, however I her little re fully compliant providers not being able to register or achieve learners at CATHSSETA due to their management system being down for over 4 months. One provider phoned last week and was simply told “No Comment”.…[Read more]
