I have developed QCTO accreditation packages for the new Occupational Certificates 101867: Viticulture worker at NQF2, 66 credits as well 101667: Orchard and Vineyard Foreman at NQF 3.
Separate to these I have also developed 99253: Livestock Farmer.
These qualifications resort under AGRISETA; if there is sufficient interest I am considering…[Read more]

Lynel,
It is very nice of the QCTO to inform the public about the hospitalisation of their CEO but they fail to attend to the complete collapse of their communication systems – paragraph 6.1 of the public notice states in bold letters that complaints should not be addressed to the CEO’s email address – because it is patently obvious that…[Read more]

Thanks, CC’d you just to show that I am taking note of your valuable work.
In your first response you mentioned that 550 something SDP’s had already been accredited – maybe I am pessimistic but feel that it should read ‘only about 550 something SDP’s have been accredited! There are quite a few more on the old trades and the NATED issues.…[Read more]

What I am trying to determine is if there are other people who are using the on-line system and experience issues. Have not seen responses from any other than you

Lynel,
Thanks, I am aware of the 90 days (not working days!) and the QCTO replied to a question in Parliament that they had achieved 87 % in this regard for the reporting period.
However my question was ‘did anybody receive an acknowledgment email’? After I did not receive the mail in response to the first submission I mailed both central…[Read more]

Yes the applications can now be done online and the system is user-friendly once you get the hang of it.
However one question. Has anybody received an email from the QCTO confirming that the application has been received? Once you complete the process it responds with an automatic response informing you that an email with more details and a…[Read more]

NQF Qualifications Sub-frameworks-for comment 6 months, 2 weeks ago
Sylvia,
This is tongue in the cheek. I have always been intrigued by the Information Black Hole to the East of Church Square in Pretoria. If one tries to contact SAQA or the QCTO the information in the form of a telephone call or email goes into this black hole (an astronomical term where no light ever escapes from) and you either hear ‘the…[Read more]

Sylvia,
This email from the QCTO has made me saddle my favourite hobby horse again. I am fully aware of the skills programmes as I was fortunate to be part of the programme. These programmes are based on the relevant Occupational Certificate but is much more concentrated; it is most certainly not a light version of the OC but rather a…[Read more]

Sylvia,
First of all may I congratulate you on an excellent document it really cuts to the core of the problem.
If I may I would also like to comment that most of the contributions came from the upper echelon of the skills providers; did you receive any inputs from the SMME sector?
I was on the point of commenting on Charles’s reply when I saw…[Read more]

Sylvia,
Not sure if this is the correct place – I can’t download the latest attachments, e. g the one about HWSETA.
Is there another way to get access to these docs?

Wanda,
I became interested in this topic during 2016/17 and had done some (very basic) research. At that stage I ran into problems regarding the legal interpretation and after I spoke to a local representative from the MERSETA we decided that untangling the legal issues was beyond our abilities.
Based on those discussion I drew up a proposal,…[Read more]

Maesella,
You can courier to the CETA, just hand in a copy at the KZN office (see their website) as well to ensure belt and braces.
Make sure somebody signs for the parcel and follow up at regular intervals to make sure they have received it.
Best of luck

Des,
Thanks for the comment – you are absolutely correct that all aspects in the curriculum document must be covered. I tend to forget some aspects to the detriment of others.
My gut feel is that the main emphasis should lie on the Practical Skills and Workplace Modules with the Knowledge Modules merely providing the skeleton on which the other…[Read more]

Thandile,
Please note that is my personal opinion but it is backed by statements from the QCTO.
I attach Form 2, akn as Annexure G where the QCTO clearly states that ‘it is not prescriptive in the use of learning material.’ At the Bloemfontein roadshow that I attended the remark was made that there is no such a thing as ‘QCTO accredited,…[Read more]

Petra,
Sorry for the long delay – only saw your post now.
If you look at the QCTO application for accreditation you will come across a document called Form 2 or Annexure G.
Copied the relevant part.
Although the QCTO is not prescriptive in the form or manner of learning material that will be used to implement the curriculum, it is…[Read more]
