Do you know what it is like to be sitting without employment because the authority which has supported your livelihood for many years, suddenly and without warning or justifiable cause, withdraws that support?
Do you understand the repercussions of a 20-year-old business suddenly under threat of closure due to the same authority suffering delays,…[Read more]

Hi Nigel
I am still unable to login to Skills Universe, thus would you be so kind to post the following on my behalf?I would also like to voice my concerns and frustrations on experiences with TETA and QCTO and also do not care to stay anonymous. Through the years and still today I am struggling with TETA, their lack of…[Read more]

Hi Sylvia,
At this stage they are set to fall away in 2023 but at present there is nothing available from QCTO to replace these, particularly the regulated fields of lifting machinery, dangerous goods and First Aid. The legacy qualifications are still very much alive and continuing, most probably because of the OHS Act/Road Traffic Regulations…[Read more] -

Hi Nigel,
I don’t directly work as a provider – so please bear with me in understanding.
(When I completed my assessor & moderator training years ago, I had so much problem getting any response from the ETDP Seta, that I took a conscious decision my life is too short for this frustration – & never worked as an assessor or moderator. )You mention…[Read more]

Hi Sylvia,
That would indeed be an interesting statistic. I have three examples of practitioners who have been reduced to zero scope, effectively preventing them from working. In other examples that have been reported to me, one assessor was to receive his reduced scope while assessing for a Learnership. Midway in the Learnership his scope was…[Read more] -

Thanks Colette, and good luck with the research.
I don’t think that you will have any problems finding contributors.I also always use my own name and have no difficulty with being identified.
Something that I have experienced with Setas, applies to the QCTO & SAQA & DHET for that matter.
As stakeholders, we are supposed to participate – we…[Read more]

Thank you Renee’, ultimately, the value of these surveys depends on the reaction of the authorities. Previous surveys many years ago were nothing but show. I would rather they experience the hardships to which SDP’s and practitioners are being subjected and make necessary adjustments, but let’s hope the survey will bring this to light. It is…[Read more]

Hi Collette, Sylvia, Nigel and all (hopefully many) concerned providers and stakeholders in South African Education,
Email sent!
I whole-heartedly agree with Nigel – I have no desire to remain anonymous in this for the same reasons as Nigel’s, and would in fact like to make my contributions to the survey known to all stakeholders – the SETAS and…[Read more]

H Colette,
Thank you, mail sent.As far as confidentiality is concerned, I have no issue with being identified, despite the general attitude of sticking heads up rear ends, I have no doubt those I have referred to in the mail are well aware of my presence. There appears to be a distinct denial of the reality of circumstances faced by SDP’s and…[Read more]
