Hi Sylvia,
I know of some SMME Providers that have also been involved in Developments of a Curriculum. Majority of small providers don’t always take this opportunity, as it is extremely time consuming.I have nothing against new start-up companies – individuals with experience is needed to assist in re-aligning the curriculum.
The value of a…[Read more]

Thank you Lynel, that really helped me.
I had two thoughts while reading:
1. “industry are involved” mmmm I thought – big business, nationals, multi-nationals.
Are the needs of SMMEs, or new tech/new products start-ups involved? and
2. Do you think that there is going to be a different status – old vs new. A perception of the value of a “new”…[Read more] -

Hi Lynel
As I understand it there are three options for the legacy qualifications – that is qualification developed in the format that existed before the introduction of the QCTO format:
* drop entirely
* realign
* replace.
Please will you confirm that this is correct – and what guides the decisions about this – and more importantly who decides? -

Hi Ashley, the process that you have explained is correct – the QCTO advises if the Provider must apply to the QCTO or to the SETA – this depends on whether the qualification is a legacy qualification which have not been re-aligned to an occupational qualification as yet. Currently these legacy qualifications are still in force, but we don’t know…[Read more]
