In the middle of January, 2011, I sent out an invitation to all registered setas to put together a communication strategy aimed at schools throughout South Africa. The main aim of this call is to send out a single, united voice that will be directed at giving our future generation a clearer picture of what our government has been doing to help create skills, jobs, promote entrepreneurship through the establishment of the SETA's.
Last Thursday the Minister of Higher Education, Dr Blade Nzimande announced that a career guidance television programme would be launched with the same aims that I proposed.
Out of all setas I contacted, so far I have had three positive responses and would like to have some more.
These are from the ETDP Seta, MERSETA and the South African Nursing Council.
I am still proceeding to develop the content of the project and will publish it once complete. If it means proceeding with only the three seta's then so shall we. I am positive that the response to this initiative will be worth the pain of getting it off the ground.
Any providers that would like to co-operate on this are welcome to join me.
I have published the email on my website, blackquestionenterprises.com. You can view it and comment.
