Over the last few months, we have been working on moving all the skills-universe content across to a new platform, where we will have more control over what can be done.  So while we are doing the final download of data, you we will not be able to post any contents from tomorrow Friday 17th March 2017.

We will then need to make final amendments, so we are planning that you will be able to start accessing the new site in a few days. When you go to from next week, you will need to login again and put in your username, then click on the “forget password”, which will then send you a link to your email address.

(Please make absolutely sure today that your email address is correct – click Settings to open your profile, then edit with new details if you want to change the email address, and remember to scroll down to click “Save” before you exit your profile.)

On the new site, we have tried to achieve a balancing act between: keeping the site looking similar – so it is not entirely unfamiliar, but also streamlining it with less headings.  Many of the old headings weren’t used – mainly we think because members didn’t find them.

The site is now divided into:

    • The Reading Room – for the longer reading articles, like the ones on theories of adult education, learning, and so on.
    • Groups – the places for discussion – there will be slightly less groups.
    • “Looking for” – the place for looking for people, material, venues, or posting your availability looking for work or projects, etc.
    • Members – all the profiles should be moved across, and
    • A very prominent Downloads section, which will make it easier to upload key documents that we all want to access.

One of the areas we cannot move across is the Member Inbox discussions, which is protected by privacy settings.  So please go through your messages and if there is any correspondence that you want to keep, please save it. (There will be an archive for some time, if you remember something that you need to access at a later date.)

We are expecting many questions, queries, etc., and will also have to become used to working on the new site ourselves, so we welcome any comments on what we have done so far, suggestions for further improvement. On requests for help with problems that members experience, please be patient if we don’t get to you immediately – depending upon the volume of issues.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Sylvia, Alan and Nathan.

Yippieeeeee!!!!!!!  this is awesome news.  Sylvia, please may I send you a list of bogus providers and individuals which I have saved the past couple of years – so that they don’t get accepted on the new portal at all.  Prevention is better than cure they say?

Thank you Lynel, we would really appreciate that.
