No, you can’t be accredited for a qualification that is registered on the NQF under the name of another provider. There is no rule about the extent to which they need to differ. I have not dealt with a case in which SAQA rejected an application because the qualifications were too similar – but I would imagine that it could happen. You will…[Read more]

CHE accreditation is notoriously difficult if you have never done it before. And it is a long process, that is full of pitfalls if you have never done it before. It is NOT like submitting to SETA.
Let my team help you. They have previously accredited national and international institutions. We will do the entire process with you, talking you…[Read more]

Hi Susan
Thank you for a very insightful document. Can I ask you, is it possible for a Provider to be accredited for a programme that another CHE registered provider is offering? ie How different must your programme be from others offered in the market?

I’ve given answers to the questions that I am often asked by private providers seeking my help with their application for accreditation with the Council on Higher Education. I’ve also include the table of costs.

Hi Silvia
I have just discovered that a professional colleague whom I attempted to invite, is not registered on the Skills Universe database.
Would he have to join Skills Universe first, before being invited to join this group?
While this process should stand to reason, I am merely inquiring should there be a better or preferred manner of…[Read more]

The SABPP’s role is to professionalise this function to ensure that HR becomes an increasingly recognized and respected profession. The Board is an accredited ETQA (Education and Training Quality Assurance body) under the SAQA Act and thus a statutory body.
The SABPP was established in 1982, when the Board of the Institute of Personnel M…[Read more]

In my opinion, in terms of the NQF Act Chapter 6 para 28, the QCs should consult the professional bodies with regard to qualifications in the professional bodies domain. This does happen sporadically but is not consistent. There are just over 100 SAQA recognised statutory and non-statutory professional bodies in SA and if the QCs consulted them…[Read more]

I am not sure about this but I believe that model is what is used with the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP).
Maybe one of the Human Resource professionals is able to comment on that.

The following is an article I received from Suzanne Hattingh, as she wasn’t really sure where it should be posted on skills-universe. Her email generated a conversation & resulted in a decision to form this group – inspired by the Cloete & van Schalkwyk article.
