Surprise Announcement QCTO Board

By sylviahammond, 1 April, 2015

Dateline Cape Town 1 April 2015

In a surprise private media briefing especially for the skills-universe DHET Minister Nzimande has revealed the members of the new QCTO Board commencing 1 April.

The DHET Minister has been so impressed with the UCT SRC students' ability to focus on an issue, mobilise support, gain the attention of senior management, and get results, that he has decided that those involved in the remove Rhodes statue campaign will take over as the new QCTO Board.

As skills-universe members will know we have approximately 2 500 qualifications registered with SAQA, to date just over 100 are scheduled to be scrapped as never used, which still leaves a large number.  Many of those remaining, which have been used in the past but have been extended so many times that they are no longer relevant.

Examples are:

Unit standard 123456 How to unravel tangled cartridge tape using a lead pencil and

US 234567 How to change a stylus to prevent scratches on a long playing record or seven single.

All skills-universe members who have ever complained about the QCTO are now required to give their full support to the new Board.

A short skills training session in placard making will be held on Friday at 14h00.  The timing is to enable the students to wake up after their Thursday night celebrations and others to attend church services.

Members are asked to please bring along a large piece of cardboard - preferably unused - and black and red marker pens.

For those younger members who are not sure about lead pencils, cartridge tapes, or other technical terms please consult one of the older members of skills-universe.
