In our Downloads section, (on the right of the screen below the Quick Links section), we have loaded the DHET document Communiqué 1.
To access, click Downloads and you will find it at the top of the page in the Downloads section.
Why is this document so important?
The implementation of skills development commenced with the Skills Development Act 1998 – implemented in 2000.
Under that act private providers only needed to obtain accreditation from a SETA to provide training towards NQF registered qualifications, and skills programmes, and unit standards.
This has now changed – every provider offering NQF registered qualifications, part qualifications, and even single unit standards MUST BE REGISTERED with DHET.
The document Communiqué 1 2018 confirms that the deadline of 30 November 2018 for submission has been removed, but confirms the need to continue with registration.
Once the provider has achieved accreditation – the next step is to apply for registration. The accreditation is of the material. The registration is of the actual company.
There are many further explanations in the Discussion Group: Concerned Providers Interest Group. After you click Discussion Groups, enter the word concerned in the search box, click search, and the group will come up.
