"Dear Mr Lata,

It is sad regret that I am sending this mail. In the beginning of August, we were informed by the CETA that our programmes will be extended, and we will receive our extension letter by the latest today. Based on this we set up a meeting with our new client with whom we received a 5-year contract to do training under the specific qualification (65789). The training is based on Unit Standards and does not include any plant. The said company is listed under the top 20 companies in the country and has more than 30 000 employees.

In a sudden turn of events, we received a mail from CETA making a complete U-turn and saying that the programme will not be extended, and we will no longer have accreditation. (Please see screenshot below)

This resulted in a vary difficult decision we had to make yesterday to retrench all our employees today and shut our doors. This has now left myself, my wife and daughter without any form of income. A sad day for us as it took us as a family 7 years to get the point we are now.

Our main training for the said contract would have been first aid. It took me 2 years to negotiate the contract, and I now must cancel the final meeting next Wednesday informing the client that we are no longer in business. We applied for the new first aid Skills programmes at QCTO and it took more than six months to get a reply. We applied for two more programmes last year November and have not received a single reply!

We received the new CI number for first aid in July and the letter attached showed that it was for unit standards although our application was for the QCTO Skills Programmes.
When I question the DOeL their reply was that they were not informed about the QCTO programmes therefore our letter states Unit Standards. Our new client informed us that the DMR will also not accept QCTO Skills Programmes and will only accept Unit Standard training. We will no longer have that.

I am sad to say that we are preparing retrenchment letters and will inform our staff that they no longer have jobs and advise them to take this up with tier union. The QCTO incompetence has resulted in the closedown of yet another small business. Sad but true."
