Good day Des,
I am very grateful that you made this stand out. I think you are absolutely CORRECT. There are unfortunately the people who engage for their own selfish gain, just to obtain either documentation, a presentation or a skills exhibition of & from professional educators for free, and constituents just have to be content with that.
You are right: we want to converse in the spirit of being genuine, open & transparent.

This is such negative behaviour. The lady obviously does not know her market at all. Not knowing who Des Squire is, I think she needs to get a wake-up call. I also agree with Anton in terms of newly providers just requesting documents and then never hearing from them ever again. For those new to the business they dont know this and I support Des’s request for the purpose of the request.
Very distasteful public attack Charity. You should get to know your people first before making a statement like you “dont report” to someone. Your defensive response makes one wonder.

I have personally responded to lots of similar adverts from this sites, only to realise after that they require the documents for accreditation and not the actual work. What has made matters worse in some cases is that there are providers who used my credentials to apply for accreditation without signing an SLA with me. All those matters are now being dealt with by my lawyers.
Des is right by asking for clarity.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do something about the fact that postings go onto this site, only for CAMs to find out that those were “for accreditation purposes” or ‘for freelance”. Some training providers go so far in that they even call CAMs for “interviews”, and then the CAMs have to exhibit presentation skills for free, travel there for free, only for the providers to hide behind “freelance” & “accreditation purposes”. The problem here is that training providers appear to abuse the Labour Relations Act, and their (collective0 modus operandi appears thus to violate the rights as contemplated by the LRA, in that CAMs rights are considered extinct or obsolete. This is against the spirit of the LRA.
What is further of huge concern is that the DHET & QCTO ENCOURAGE Setas to in turn encourage service providers & academies to enter into so-called SLAs for the exact purpose to “employ” educators but protect themselves, and to “legally” circumvent labour legislation! That all, with the blessing of the DHET & QCRO & Setas.
I implore you to please ensure that postings on this site are for WORK or EMPLOYMENT, or, if the employer truly WANTS to willfully circumvent labour legislation, to state it straight & to be transparent. Whether there is DEFINITE training starting dates, or the clear desire to circumvent labour legislation by virtue of “freelance” or any other reason, it should be CLEARLY communicated.
If some training providers have not noticed: It costs MONEY to travel to training providers whilst being in oblivion as to the outcome of such “interview”.
Training providers & academies CANNOT insist on the skills exhibitions of CAMs for free – not if they only want to “gain accreditation” or “build” their facilitator & assessor pools.
A few cases have now been referred to the CCMA, and labour lawyers are now getting involved because of all this. All of these, because there is allegedly little or no respect towards- but rather circumvention tactics deployed, by training providers & academies, to the detriment of CAMs’ rights to fair employment as professional educators.
The educational system thus appears to be willfully contradicting & inspiring an impairment to the effectiveness of fair labour practices.
We as CAMs do NOT have the time to “figure out” what a training provider’s true intentions are – it only costs us money, and the time we have to spend in preparation & presentations, we could just as well have used to further our studies & attend to our Learners.

I have 2 more constituents who want to enquire more about the discrepancies that appear to be rife in education. They too, have been asked to provide information, attend interviews, do presentations for free for the gratification of training providers, but were left out in the cold thereafter until this very day.
I believe you also have a few constituents who want to approach that labour lawyer who is also a constituent assessor & moderator & educational specialist. We certainly want a meeting with her. Can you assist us please?

on 8 August the first of the cases is being heard at the CCMA on the East Rand. There are 12 more to come. There you can meet Leonora, the labour lawyer.
the best is to get all the documetation ready so long, because she will eventually need that to approach the labour court for remedy.
But in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information. I will certainly go out of my way to help CAM constituents.
