    The function of this role: The Training Officer is to ensure proper and effective training to all employees internal and external within the mine.

    This position is based in Postmasburg, It will include being seconded to provide services at other premises and/or establishment of the Clients. This may require traveling within the Northern Cape and additional provinces as required.

    • Knowledge of the applicable legislation regarding safety, applicable Standard Operating Procedures, Code of Practices and Mine Health and Safety Act, Training Act, Mining Charter and Training requirements.
    • Effective development of training manuals. The revision of training material to ensure it remains in line with legislative changes and new training methodologies for the South African mining industry
    • Ability to facilitate, assess and moderate training conducted
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing (English and Afrikaans)

    Key Performance Areas

    • Adherence to legislation, Standards Operating Procedures, Codes of Practice and Health and Safety policies and Procedures.
    • Timeous investigation and reporting of incidents and accidents.
    • Ensure correct use of PPE.
    • Ensure good house-keeping at all times.
    • Ensure high quality of work at all times.
    • Adhere to legal and reasonable instructions from the Training Officer, HR Manager and Mine Manager and other duly authorised persons upon request.
    • Ensure effective communication at all time
    • Assist with the collaboration with management to gain knowledge of work situation requiring training for employees.
    • Development of training matrix in line with training requirements for the mining industry to ensure a safe and effective and competitive workforce.
    • Assist with monitoring of training results and statistics.
    • Assist with planning, developing and provision of training and staff development programmes.
    • Assist with analysing training needs to develop new training. Interventions
    • Assist with development of new value-adding training material.
    • Assist with facilitation of relevant training interventions.
    • Assist with the transfer of skills and knowledge.
    • Assist with accurate assessment of skills, abilities and knowledge to determine competence levels.
    • Assist with assessment of trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.

    Essential.

    • 3 to 5 Years Relevant Training Experience in the mining industry
    • Qualified Assessor and Moderators within the Mining Sector (Constituent to the below unit Standards – Bottom of the job spec)
    • Prioritisation and time management.
    • Interpersonal relationships, discretion and confidentiality.
    • Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act, relevant Standard Operating Procedures, Code of Practices, Health and Safety policies and procedures
    • Experience of report writing.
    • Ability to communicate at all levels.
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Ability to train people.
    • Must Understand and follow VACS principals (Critical)
    • Must understand MS Office i.e., Word, excel and power point.
    • 2 Years Relevant Engineering Experience
    • Knowledge of ARPL Process.
    • knowledge of Assessment document flow.
    • Attention to detail

    • Grade 12.or N3 and above
    • Accredited as Moderator at MQA (Accreditation Number Required)
    • Accredited as Assessor at MQA. (Accreditation Number Required)
    • Accredited as Facilitator at the MQA. (Accreditation Number Required)
    • A valid code B driver’s license.

    Must Be Constituted with the Following Unit Standards Or most of them

    • 242661 Apply knowledge and understanding of South African law to the management of risk
    • 257027 Install Support in surface mines and quarries
    • 257078 Examine and make safe blasted surface excavations.
    • 257030 Assist blasting operations
