This is a question i received from one of our members. Do you have any ideas or suggstions?

Hi Des, any idea how we can help the eastern cape youth affected and infected with AIDS gain hope again? I understand there are goverment clinics that are open to the public, but from what i saw when i was there, there is big need for wellness outreach programme, that..does nt only empower wellness only but the one that also has career guidance of somesort. your comment will be highly appreciated on this matter.

      Hello Des

SABCOHA – the SA Business Council on HIV and AIDS might be a good body to contact. They are starting an outreach campaign to train concerning small business and HIV and AIDS awareness shortly. Best wishes- Jan

We are a group of psychologists currently in talks with the DOH here in PE regarding assisting with HIV/AIds counselling, not just with the youth but the community at large, as the need is enormous to say the least. We’ll keep you posted on the progress. The biggest concern right now is how any programme will be funded, as budgets are relatively limited. Any ideas, funding sources would be appreciated in this regard. You are welcome to get in touch with me directly via e-mail on info@mindz.co.za.

      Hi Des

I work at the Diocese of Tzaneen Hiv/Aids Outreach programme In Limpopo and there are four main programs that are actively run namely: Education For Life – Behavior Change and Life skills,Home Based Care – Care and Support, Orphans and Vulnerable children- Pysco -Social Support and Antiretroviral therapy and some of these programs if not all are being funded By SACBC AIDS Office and other relevant donors who do trainings and guidances. I know that even in the Eastern Cape there are projects who are funded by SACBC and they can be able to help those youth and the community at large. Here is the contact number for SACBC( South African Catholic Bishops Conference)012 323 6458 and ask for Aids Office please.
