Most providers who fail their first application for CHE Accreditation don’t meet the requirements of Criterion 1: Programme Design. This is arguably the most important criterion for the CHE Programme Accreditation of Private Higher Education Institutions. In almost every case in which I’ve assisted institutions over many years to write Representations to CHE to address “Reasons for non-accreditation”, we’ve had to correct weaknesses in their Programme Design.

In the attachment I describe the areas in which HEQC evaluators generally find non-compliance to the requirements for Criterion 1, and I list key elements that should be clearly and accurately formulated in the Programme Design.
