DHET Registration for Seta accredited SDP

Good Day All

Is it a requirement for a Seta accredited SDP to be registered with DHET?

I am asking this in relation with According to Amended Code Series 300, Statement 300 , the Skills Development expenditure on bursaries for black students at Higher Education Institution criteria is 6 weighing points with a compliance target of 2,5% BBBEE points.

This code is not explicit on the DHET registration.

Please assist.

Good day,
SDPs that fall under any SETA and/or QCTO cannot apply for registration to the DHET. The registration process was revoked on the 7th February 2020 and gazetted. The only providers that can register with the DHET at this stage are those whom are accredited with Umalusi and/or CHE.

Hi Maphuthi,

Be careful about the terminology when you apply the Codes.

A SDP is not necessarily a Higher Education Institution (HEI), but HEIs must be registered at the DHET. HEIs are normnaly Private Colleges, TVETs and Public Universities. Code Series 300 (most recent amendment) specifically refers to “HEI”.
