Hi – what would the experts out there advise for a mature adult who has never achieved matric. I can assist this person with a level 4 or 5 managament qualification but am not sure if level 4 would be more appropriate (as its a matric equivalent) or level 5 as its a higher level. this person could easily manage level 5 – which will obviously be confirmed with an entry exam – and will never want to go the formal education route but may do further NQF in project management or IT sometime.
I think it would depend upon their age, and what the person has been doing to earn a living to date. Also is there going to be a need in future to prove an actual L4 qualification to gain entry to another programme – there are some very bureaucratic requirements out there.
Maybe a skills-universe member who is an RPL specialist could add a more informed opinion?
they are over 30. and yes – that is my exact concern – if i give them the level 5 then they may still not have a matric equivalent if they ever want to use that for CV/training purposes. Logically a level 5 is obviously a higher level but may not hold as much value as a matric equivalent to someone who has no matric. I hope you can follow my reasoning?
