The Department of Higher Education and Training is planning to take over the issuing of certificates from the sector education and training authorities (Setas) to improve efficiency, minister Blade Nzimande said this week.

He blames the private providers together with inefficiencies at the SETAS for the problems.

Do you agree? What have your experiences been when trying to have learner certificates issued?

    Honestly!?!?
I have been trying for 4 months to have our SETA add a programme under our scope on the MIS system – a programme that has been approved in April – so that we can certificate learners. No luck yet. Blade is playing the blame game, just like every other government department blames apartheid for their current incompetence and lack of performance. I would love to hear his reasoning behind why he claims the private providers are to blame…

Another red tape bungle on its way.

Why not concentrate on those SETAs that are not performing and leave the others to get on with the job at hand
