I came across a very interesting blog by Alan Matthews in which he discusses the five reasons as being:

1. They want to overdeliver

2. They feel anxious when they're not "doing something"

3. They're too attached to their content

4. They don't know enough about their learners

5. They think that the amount they cover equals the amount people take in
