Professors Aumann and Yunus have two entirely different approaches to business: Professor Aumann believes that the sole purpose of business is to make money - and that individuals won't work for others - he doesn't believe that the sub-prime crisis in the USA, which lead to a global financial crisis results from greed. Professor Yunus takes a different approach - he believes that man is not here simply for the sole purpose of making money, at the expense of others. Read this report and give your views on the approach you believe we should adopt in South Africa.

Minister Blade Nzimande spoke recently about opening entry points to SA universities, which would include mature-age exemptions and re-looking at the matric-certificate route.

It is true that universities are expensive, and necessarily privileged. Degrees offer credentials that are verifiable, whether you’ve got the career knowledge or not. They’re almost like possessing brand name clothing; like wearing Levi jeans.

Good day all!!!
Is it just my impatience or you have you guys experienced extreme frustration with the paperwork and process required at SETA's (I won't mention names)?
Simple enquiries result in endless telephone calls, follow up emails and eventually physical visits to their offices, only to be turned with one or the other "excuse".

I think we should organise oursleves in a professional forum, such as this one, and present our frustrations to the relevant heads of the different ETQAs. One thing I know is that they are equally frustrated with their internal processes and staff performance.

Trashing : The Good The Bad and the Exaggerated

SAMWU has noted press coverage on trashing and the comments of well known media commentators such as Tim Modise, and others who have used terms like ‘mayhem’ to describe the situation in municipalities where rubbish has been spilled onto the streets.

This union has called on all of its members not to trash, and will continue to do so. We acknowledge that it is unpopular, and can distract attention away from the central and just demands of our pay and conditions campaign.
