Child pregnancy in South Africa 3

DID YOU KNOW?

There were in excess of 3400 school children – between the ages of 10 and 14 who gave birth to babies during the course of 2019.

What can be done in South Africa to stop this horrific situation???

      Hi Debbie
They are the statistics as recorded for child pregnancies and do not include rape or any children older that 14. why our government only record children to age 14 is beyone me. If we were to hear of all the pregnancies say up to age 20 I think we woould be even more shocked.Just the stats above (3400) will cost the state an additionsl R1,360.000 per month in child grants alone.
But my question is still why, why are children giving birth? Who is responsible for making them pregnant? Is it not rape of a minor? Is there any legal action taken?
