Portal Publishing office to close in support of national shutdown

The staff of Portal Publishing have noted the calls from many and varied groups in South African society for a national shutdown on Friday the 7th April.
The protests are to express the national dissatisfaction with a number of recent events. These include the sacking of the very skilled and proficient Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance, the increasing evidence of state capture, and the inefficient allocation of state resources, for example spending R246 million on the upgrades to President Zuma’s personal property. Such state monies would be better spend on education, housing, healthcare or other national imperatives.
The Portal Publishing office will be closed tomorrow to allow staff the time to attend one of the protest events, if they wish. Our websites will be available as usual, and will be updated by our staff and contributors.
As a company supporting democracy, education, empowerment and good governance we are closing our office to add our voice to the protests.
