Dear Skills Development Provider
Re: UPDATE REGARDING RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) AS A DELIVERY MODEL
1. This letter serves to inform accredited skills development providers, that Services SETA has taken a decision regarding RPL accreditation applications.
2. Prior to December 2016, Services SETA required accredited Skills Development Providers, who wished to offer RPL Services to apply as an RPL & Assessment Provider.
3. Services SETA, has since taken a decision to allow Skills Development Providers who are already accredited against the full qualification (in the form of training provision), to offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) services without going through a separate RPL application process.
4. However, the following are a prerequisite for External Moderation of RPL outcomes:
*RPL , policies and procedures;
*RPL learning material for the qualification that is delivered through Recognition of Prior Learning;
*Systems in place and RPL support information on RPL is readily available;
*A criteria framework within which pre-screening takes place and is readily available to the candidates;
*Methods, tools and instruments for conducting RPL and
*RPL advisors identified to assist the candidate.
Should you require clarification with regard to the above information, please contact the Accreditation Department on 011 276 9600.
Sincerely
Manager: Nozipho Zondo

Hi there, maybe I commented too quickly. So what does this mean? That Providers that applied prior to December 2016 was lucky, and any other Provider conducting the same submission/application will now have a different criteria with more hassels? Some clarity is needed here ………………..
Nice to see communication, it’s a start for sure!
At last some of the SETA’s are waking up and setting out some standards for RPL. this approach is long overdue. At last I can say well done to Services SETA. Yes Magda – others must now follow.
Good day all
Looking at the above mentioned. I can assist on many ARPL s if assistance is needed.
I do many ARPL submittions with various SETAS.
At the moment,i find the Construction SETA and the MERSETA the best where it come to user friendliness
