SAQA will be hosting it 11th Chairperson’s lecture and three seminars on Career Development from 11 – 14 February 2013 in Durban, Lusikisiki, Johannesburg, and Pretoria.
In July 2011, SAQA commissioned research to determine and describe how South Africa organises, manages and provides career guidance information and services, as well as the key challenges in improving the management and delivery of such services. The results of this research will be presented in the lecture and seminars.
The intention is that these events will provide a platform for policy makers and leaders in career guidance and development to be informed, engage, critically reflect on the research results and consider how they may be addressed. The discussions will include how the Department of Higher Education and Training framework will improve the delivery of career guidance.
Guest speaker Dr John McCarthy, Director of the International Centre for Career Development and Public Policy will provide an international perspective. His career guidance experience derives from his roles as teacher, guidance counsellor, university lecturer, trade union activist, and policy adviser.
The Chairperson’s lecture will be held in Johannesburg on the 13 February 2013 at the Protea Hotel Midrand from 16h00 – 19h00,
