Internship opportunity for tech-savvy graduates

Graduates interested in being considered for an opportunity to participate in the Technology Innovation Agency have been invited to apply for a place in the 12 month Internship Programme offered by the Innovation Skills Development Unit.

The Innovation Skills Development Unit within TIA is responsible for the management of skills development within the National System of Innovation Space and amongst its offerings manages the TIA/Industry Internship Programmes.

Internship Programme: Graduates in the Science, Engineering and Technology Innovation (SETI) • FET students requiring In-Service Training(WIL)

Purpose of the Internship is to: Provide workplace experience to graduates allowing them practical exposure to their academic training, enhancing employability • Provide additional skills development training that will stimulate innovation provide life skills and work readiness (Basic Business, Technical and Life Skills Training) through formal mentorship Reporting to the Line Manager/Mentor the Intern’s responsibilities will include amongst others to: assist and support research, administration and project management activities within the Industry/Business Units where they are placed

Requirements: South African university graduates and post-graduates in the following categories are eligible to apply: (Candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply).

• Category 1: A degree in Science, Engineering and Technology
• Category 2: Unemployed Graduates in any field
• Category 3: Diploma Students requiring In Service Training(WIL) General Competencies: Good verbal, written and communication skills
• Team player and self-starter and go-getter

Term of the Internship: The targeted start date is 1st July 2012

• 12 months for the Internship Programme
• 6 months for In Service Training (WIL)

Remuneration: The Intern will be paid a monthly stipend depending on their level of qualification.

Placement: Successful applicants will be placed in various institutions throughout the country and should thus specify the province where they want to be placed. TIA does not pay relocation costs to appointed applicants who prefer to be placed at provinces away from the province of their residence.
