Internships – Graduate work experience


INTERNSHIPS
(GRADUATE WORK EXPERIENCE)
The Parliament of South Africa invites applications from unemployed University and University of
Technology graduates who are interested in participating in our Internship Programme in the
occupations below, for a minimum period of 6 months and a maximum period of 12 months.
Internships are available in the following occupational fi elds:
■ HR: Qualifi cation requirement: Degree in Industrial Psychology or B. Tech: HRM.
■ Information and Content Development: Qualifi cation requirement: B.Tech Communication, National
Diploma in Communications or a BA in Media Studies, Communication or Journalism.
■ Information Technology: Qualifi cation requirement: Degree/Diploma in IT with focus on software
development. Additional requirements: Knowledge of C#, ASP.net and MS SQL.
■ Information Technology: Qualifi cation requirement: Degree/Diploma in IT. Additional requirements:
Exposure in Novell, Linux, Microsoft operating systems and networking environment.
■ Internal Communications: Qualifi cation requirement: BA Communications.
■ Internal Audit x2: Qualifi cation requirement: Degree/Diploma in Internal Auditing.
■ International Relations: Qualifi cation requirement: Degree/Diploma in Travel and Tourism
■ Language Services (IsiXhosa) x2: Qualifi cation requirement: Diploma in Language Practice or Degree
with a Language Major.
■ Media Management: Qualifi cation requirement: BA Library Science. Creative writing would be an
advantage. Additional requirements: Archiving, research, writing skills, managing media access to events.
■ NA Table x2: Qualifi cation requirement: Degree or Diploma majoring in one of the following:
Constitutional Law, Politics, English, Public Policy and Administration.
■ Paper Conservation x2: Qualifi cation requirement: Degree/Diploma in Fine Arts, Library Science or
Paper Conservation.
■ Projects Unit: Qualifi cation requirement: Diploma in Project Management.
■ Public Education: Qualifi cation requirement: Diploma in Tour Guiding.
■ Public Relations: Qualifi cation requirement: BA (Hon) in Communication, Journalism or a Public Relations
Diploma with a Communication and/or PR academic background.
■ Research: Education and Recreation: Qualifi cation requirement: Honours Degree: Arts and Culture/
Sports and Recreation.
■ Research: Fisheries: Qualifi cation requirement: BSc (Hon). Majors in one of the following: Zoology,
Freshwater Biology, Marine/Aquatic Biology, Conservation Biology, Fisheries Science, Fisheries Resource
Management, Ichthyology, Aquaculture, Coastal Zone Resource Management and other related studies.
■ Research: Finance and Public Account: Qualifi cation requirement: B.Com (Hon) with majors in Public
Finance. Qualifi cation must include macroeconomics, Fiscal policy and/or Financial Management.
■ Research: Trade and Economic Cluster: Qualifi cation requirement: B.Com: Economics.
■ Research: Water and Sanitation: Qualifi cation requirement: Relevant Honours’ Degree and Knowledge
of the following; South Africa’s water and sanitation sector; Key developments pertaining to the sector;
Links to Environmental and Agricultural issues; Targets and challenges relating to service delivery of
water and sanitation services.
■ Sound and Vision x2: Qualifi cation requirement: Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light
Current).
■ Supply Chain Management x2: Qualifi cation requirement: Diploma in Logistics or B.Com Degree.
Graduates with a three-year Diploma/Degree will be paid a monthly stipend of R4500.00 and Postgraduates
R6000.00.
