To all of those who are eligible to vote ! Here is how to register. A great many people have fought for you to have this right – so use it!
Just reminding all of you to register to vote THIS weekend if you aren’t already registered. Please remind everyone you know!
What will I need to be able to register?
Your South African green bar-coded ID book or temporary identity certificate.
How do I know where to register?
Call the IEC on 0800 11 8000 toll-free from a landline and they will tell you where to register (have your street address handy).
I am already registered but I moved?
If you are already registered, but your voting district has changed because you’ve moved or as a result of the new voting district boundaries you will need to re-register.
If you are already registered and just want to make sure that you are on the voter’s roll, you can sms your ID number to 32810 and you will get a response confirming whether you are registered to vote and where.
It is important to note that in the Municipal election you can only vote at the voting station where you are registered.
What time can I register?
Between 8:00 and 17:00 on 5 & 6 February at the voting station for your residential area.
Remember that apathy is the enemy of democracy. People who don’t express their feelings at the ballot box have no right to complain about government or the country!
