The Business Day reports that Food giant Tiger Brands , whose brands include Koo, All Gold, Fatti’s & Moni’s and Black Cat, has launched a six-month catering incubator programme under the auspices of its corporate sustainability division.
According to Stephen Billingham, president of the South African Chefs Association (Saca) , the training programme is long overdue.
“The catering industry is one of the largest growing sectors in the hospitality industry as more and more companies are entertaining at home or at their business premises — yet there is no formal qualification ,” he says.
The course was created by Tiger Brands in conjunction with Saca and will be conducted at the HTA School of Culinary Art in Randburg. Follow-up and mentoring will be provided by the nonprofit Culinary Arts Association of SA.
