Mandela Day has gone and many will be thinking, well I've done my bit for the year.  Not so, there is so much more to be done. Please support the Big Issue - not only because you are giving to someone who stands out at traffic lights in all sorts of weather - but because the content is good. The current issue (25 July to 24 August) has a stunning picture of Lira on the cover. (If you don't know who she is then that is all the more reason to buy the magazine.)There is a magic supplement included…See More

Is it possible to gain exemption to use local demographics of employer catchment area?

Recently we have had a number of high profile Employment Equity cases reported in the media - about how demographic profiles are being applied. This question relates specifically to B-BBEE. A company is in a semi-rural area - in a valley.  Most of the employees live in close proximity to the employer, so the catchment area for the majority of the employees is the local residential area - the valley.  The local demographics compare quite closely to national demographics - not the regional…See More

Hi Sylvia , I have been lecturing at FET from 2005 but in and out on contracts , Have a Fshion Diploma through Tshwane University of Technology . My work is outstanding and love teaching but I have been through so many interviews but no luck of finding a job. I went for an interview at my own college 2 weeks ago , 1 lady from the panel said she does not understand why with such high quality of work still want to come and teach . I love teaching with all my heart. I have achieved so much even for the college itself but still they did not take me , they employed someone else . I am tired of job hunting . I want to work as a learning material developer but I dont know where to start . I have even gone back to school to study education through Unisa . It feels like my qualification is useless if it can't provide a living for me , It feels like I have hit the rock bottom . I don't know what to do now all I know is that I want to do something with education , I have Fashion Design, Assessor and teaching experience . Please help me.

UBUNTU reminds everybody who was a Bantu education victim the 1976 unrest. Ubuntu is scary, quality education without this label Ubuntu should ultimately be implemented. The children of South Africa deserve to get educated and that's what their parents want according to Human Rights. Quality education will create jobs. A country without education will continue with conflicts and to avoid this it'll be very good to remove the cause.
