"Hi Nigel, maybe we should list the Setas with the new un-communicated stipulations which makes it almost impossible for providers to be accredited, and see if there is a trend - "I have a strange feeling" - something is wrong .............."
While all SETA's have different processes (which they shouldn't!), this particular situation is causing chaos in among the CETA accredited providers and registered practitioners. The one thing I have found that SETA's…"
The rates an SDF will charge comes with a Service Level Agreement with an entirty. It should be a 1 month inte vention.
Some Seta's bring in Independent Skills Development Facilitators (ISDF) at various rates R1000.00 to R1500.00 per…"
"Xolani, well done! That is how it is done! You have taken a situation, and made the most of it. I agree that BBBEE is difficult for the small companies, and yes you are correct, virtually impossible. At times, the bigger the…"
"Xolile, I find your ideas very interesting, thank you. I am sorry that you are part of the "drop-out" figure, and have had your challenges. It is important to share our difficulties as well as our solutions. The current…"
"It's like BBBEE verification which is an easy thing to do but to become one is virtually impossible for a small guy. Accreditation is the same thing. There is no way that I would shell out R10k to pay a consultant to get accredited. After…"
"Lynel, the drop-out percentage affects me as well because I incur the same expenses and I am affected by all the challenges that affects other smme's. The solution is first to ensure that we all fight from within. that is we all reconsider…"
"Hi Nigel, I am currently looking at two huge cases, and the NSDS gives a very clear indication that what is currently happening in the industry goes against these stipulations/regulations. The more information (factual) we obtain, the…"
That is perhaps the problem with the whole system from inception. What the NSDS says and what the reality of the situation is, is in a lot of cases, somewhat disparate. What was originally envisaged by SAQA, has not come to be.…"
"Xolile, you are so right! There is solutions to our problems and concerns, and the only way that we can address these issues, is to work together and share information. The ETDP Seta intervention was (in my personal opinion) a success,…"
SETAs are required, through their Performance agreements with the DHET, to support SMMEs as SMME development is a key strategic goal (4.6) in the NSDS. SETAs support such entities through their discretionary grant mechanisms, against…"
"Colleagues, There is no other way than what we are currently doing through the skills-universe platform where we discuss challenges and come up with workable solutions for everyone. We will eventually achieve what we working for like we did with the…"
"That's an interesting point - if they need the B-BBEE skills development element of the scorecard, they will continue to train at their own expense - regardless of whether they recieve SETA Discretionary Grants. "
The name of our company is Krost training for Africa, we are situated in the city centre on albert street and my number is 031 3044071, thank you for your help but we urgently need to find Qualified Freelance Facilitators & Assessors that are Boilermakers & Welders
Thanks for your message. My personal opinion is that the training and education field is over regulated, and like a monolith or a 3-toed sloth simply gathering moss and mass! The bottom-up view that I will be taking will seek to provide a different QA paradigm - which has not yet been designed! Hopefully my research will lead to the creation of this new paradigm.
Hi Nigel Thanks for your message. It’s early days yet and I have not started my actual research but I will be looking for people to survey/interview, etc when the time comes, so will definitely keep you in mind. I think this website might also give me access to private and/or workplace providers - I hope so anyway.
Obviously I am doing a lot of reading at the moment as I will be doing an international global developments overview as well as looking at the politics and economics of the situation as well as the developments in SA as they unfold with the QCTO etc
The research proper will probably only happen early next year once I’ve worked my way through the preliminary stages of the doctorate but the proposal has been accepted.
