Nigel Storm Shipston replied to Shawn Naidu's discussion Abuse of Freelancers

Nigel Storm Shipston replied to Shawn Naidu's discussion Abuse of Freelancers
"Hi Shawn,I agree with Jacqui wholeheartedly, but just ensure that the training provider understands that this 50% is a non-refundable amount to cover your preparation costs in the event of such cancellations.  If this is made clear and the…"

"Well, well! Lance say welcome to my fellow conspirator and adopted little sister with the voice of reason! Lynel, perhaps you have touched on a little more here.  I think the range of training that training providers take on is often more than…"

Nigel Storm Shipston commented on Lance Levin's blog post Are companies being ripped off by certain training companies and getting away with it?!!
"Indeed Willemien! I think Alexander was referring to "legal" re-certification albeit in a different sense. Lance, I have had a number of fairly recent experiences with this very topic and it calls into question so many issues.  Does…"

Nigel Storm Shipston commented on Lance Levin's blog post Are companies being ripped off by certain training companies and getting away with it?!!
"Hi Andre, Technically correct, but your wording of Learner/Assessor ratio is incorrect.  It is the Learner/Facilitator ratio that is 4:1.  There is only one reference to a Learner/Assessor ratio in the NCOP, and that is "1 hour…"

Nigel Storm Shipston commented on Lance Levin's blog post Are companies being ripped off by certain training companies and getting away with it?!!
"Hi Lance, Couldn't agree with you more, although there a number of instances where regulatory compliance requires "re-certification". In terms of the Driven Machinery Regulations, it has always been a requirement that Operators must…"

Nigel Storm Shipston commented on Des Squire's blog post Conflict of interest
"Hey Lady L, welcome to the fray! I agree that under our current bunch of verifiers (Des excluded of course!) and without any proper controls or guidelines from SETA's, verification by another provider is suspect.  But it is sad as you…"

Thanks for your message. My personal opinion is that the training and education field is over regulated, and like a monolith or a 3-toed sloth simply gathering moss and mass! The bottom-up view that I will be taking will seek to provide a different QA paradigm - which has not yet been designed! Hopefully my research will lead to the creation of this new paradigm.

Hi Nigel Thanks for your message. It’s early days yet and I have not started my actual research but I will be looking for people to survey/interview, etc when the time comes, so will definitely keep you in mind. I think this website might also give me access to private and/or workplace providers - I hope so anyway.

Obviously I am doing a lot of reading at the moment as I will be doing an international global developments overview as well as looking at the politics and economics of the situation as well as the developments in SA as they unfold with the QCTO etc

The research proper will probably only happen early next year once I’ve worked my way through the preliminary stages of the doctorate but the proposal has been accepted.

Kind regards
Jacqui
