"Leon, This would indeed be good news if it turns out to be true, but it is a sad indication of the lack of consistency and continuity between all the authorities who are clamouring to take a bite at private training providers."
"Hi Tass, Agree with you totally, however please note that with TETA for example, with all my Lifting Machinery learning materials, I have letters of Approval from TETA for these materials, which means that on applying for accreditation, a training…"
"It is strange to me that no one seems to get to grips with the material being used for training. We are going from unpredictable and inconsistent evaluation of training materials, to non-existent evaluation. Mildly disappointed in this."
Perhaps a little ray of sunshine on this subject that we seem to have not mentioned. As a registered DHET "college", training providers are entitled to apply for VAT Exemption. So at least there is some advantage to this…"
"Thank you Henk, one would think after all the years of engaging various SETA's with their inconsistent processes that any form of accreditation/registration application would be avoided! But after a bit of reflection, I recall the early…"
"Yes Des, it may be the responsibility of the company, but SDF's have strong links to the SETA's and are an integral part of the Skills process. Without some form of being able to identify professional characteristics of an SDF,…"
"And so we come slowly to the truth, that the lower end of the QA process (Assessors and Moderators) are vehemently expected to comply with registration requirements, but no such registration or control applies to the upper end (Verifiers and ETQA…"
"I think one must consider all of this in a transitional light.
Yes, the NQF Act requires "Every private education institution or private provider MUST be registered and accredited to offer qualifications or part-qualifications contemplated in…"
"Second that Lynel, Looking at these comments, Cas, I remember way back in about 1999, you addressed us at what was then Natal Training Centre in Durban. I felt an excitement about the changes in the training environment, particularly with the way…"
"No problem Henk, not sure if we will receive the same attention as QCTO, but surely we need to bring these issues to the attention of DHET in order to give everyone a "fighting chance" at registration. And you know what they say lately, do…"
The name of our company is Krost training for Africa, we are situated in the city centre on albert street and my number is 031 3044071, thank you for your help but we urgently need to find Qualified Freelance Facilitators & Assessors that are Boilermakers & Welders
Thanks for your message. My personal opinion is that the training and education field is over regulated, and like a monolith or a 3-toed sloth simply gathering moss and mass! The bottom-up view that I will be taking will seek to provide a different QA paradigm - which has not yet been designed! Hopefully my research will lead to the creation of this new paradigm.
Hi Nigel Thanks for your message. It’s early days yet and I have not started my actual research but I will be looking for people to survey/interview, etc when the time comes, so will definitely keep you in mind. I think this website might also give me access to private and/or workplace providers - I hope so anyway.
Obviously I am doing a lot of reading at the moment as I will be doing an international global developments overview as well as looking at the politics and economics of the situation as well as the developments in SA as they unfold with the QCTO etc
The research proper will probably only happen early next year once I’ve worked my way through the preliminary stages of the doctorate but the proposal has been accepted.
