Employee Engagement

I haven't read about employee engagement but have read about 'inclusion' in writings by Kurt April from the graduate school of business, UCT, and that argument makes a lot of sense to me. If this is…

Online Degrees Not Acceptable in Certain Countries

Hi Laetitia, good points you make. I think that if you're doing your job and can do it well, it doesn't matter where your degree comes from...and the best person for the job isn't always the most qua…

Online Degrees Not Acceptable in Certain Countries

Ok, but what about Unisa or Univeristy of London? Both of those universities write exams but are e degrees. If we look at people who are not as privileged in life that they can attend university full…

Greed in SA Education

Rahman, you make good points. At UCT though, foreign students pay a much higher price compared to South African and SADC students. The university also does give bursaries according to need. I don't k…

Hi Angelique, do you find that mental health, like depression, plays a role in HIV transmission in youth? I do diversity work, which includes HIV, and focuses on gender, culture, and also stigma.

Hi Des, interesting to contrast this article to research by Howard Phillips, a historian who studied the history of epidemiology, particularly in South Africa, how much disease has always impacted most strongly on, or been blamed on, vulnerable grou…

I think all of the points raised are valid and important ones. Power inequality is a huge thing within our society. Some difficulties exist though around isolating men. Elizabeth Mills did some very valid work on this. She argued that if we make men…

The time to ACT is long overdue and we really need to get all PEACE LOVING PEOPLE to respond to our cries for justice. We cannot tolerate any longer the kind of abuse and callousness agains CREATION and more particularly agains CHILDREN, WOMEN and SENIOR CITIZENS. We are all guilty and responsible by not highlighting the inhumane and inhuman that filters under our skin. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, make some suggestions as what we can DO!

It is almost a culture inherent in the bones of South African men that believe that they are "macho" in hurting and abusing innocent children and women, as well as the senior citizens I might add.

Government and civil society is not coming out strong enough by saying "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH". We tend to give too much attention to the villains "SKUNK" than to the victims. We really need to arise from our slumber and strategise, as well as be proactive in getting our society to realise the shame that these villains "SKUNKS" are bringing onto our rainbow nation, and to bring rapid and genuine reform in our nation's culture and value system. We really need to emphasise national dignity and respect for CREATION.
