Hi
A points system has been in place in the UK for some years - I guess drivers there loose there jobs if they are disqualified from driving
Surely the intention of this new move is to improve driving on our roads which we all know is a huge problem…

Because assessors work at different speeds, I think most providers pay a set rate per assessment; the same with moderation. You may decide to have different rates depending on the NQF level.

Hi Linda, thanks for your message. we are not aligned to a US as yet. Our plan is simply to get up and running and get the official accreditation done as soon as we are generating a cash flow. Our course teaches those skills drivers and chauffeurs need - apart from physical driving skills. Course modules include Health and Safety, Driver safety, Driving etiquette, Car care, Administrative requirements, confidentiality and ethics, client contact and orientation. We are Johannesburg based and the course consists of 5 half days. We hope to run morning and afternoon courses.
Hi Steve
I have been a workplace/occupational trainer for many years. I returned to the UK for family reasons for 8 years, during which time the new skills development act happened in SA. I returned to SA based on a letter provided for me by Shirley Walters after she reviewed my CV and attested to my unique skills.
On returning, I decided to work as a freelance training consultant and found things very difficult, people cannot imagine that because i have not actually worked with the new legislation that I am incapable of doing so; also I found it difficult to establish a sound network.
After listening to a presentation by Chris Vorwerk, I met up with him and he felt positive there was a niche for me within the new training landscape.
I have been frustrated that up until recently about misconceptions in the SA systems and processes:- the training of assessors and assessment process, that no one was concerned with transferring skills into the workplace; ROI was an exercise in claiming back skills levies and so on.
Please forgive me for my apparent bemoaning – I am pleased that things are beginning to change and I hope this change impacts on workplace performance. It concerns me that so much time and effort is being spent on the new occupational framework, not that I disagree with it, but SA is clever at developing constitutions, systems, procedures – words.. and not turning these into implemented actions.
Steve I have a desperate need to contribute to in the workplace skills development – please look at my profile page, should I go quietly into early retirement and a slow decline, or are my skills and experience of value to SA?
Regards Linda
