Tell us about what you do

I am a diversity practitioner who faciliates diversity workshops and and training.At the moment I am the project officer of the ADAPT Programme, which is the Univeristy of Cape Town (UCT)'s latest transformation project. Here I co-ordinate workshops, design workshop materials, train facilitators and facilitate intercultural communication and leadershop workshops to staff and students.

I also volunteer on the Executive of the United Nations Association of South Africa (UNASA) Western Cape Chapter as the social media officer.

Other/Previous relevant employment:

I have also worked as a consultant for the UNASA Western Cape Chapter (writing annual reports and editing their newsletter).

I have lectured om the topics of Race, Xenophobia and the Coloured Identity in the Dept. of Sociology at the Univeristy of Cape Town as well as at the School of International Training for their Human Rights and Social Change Study Abroad Programme.

I managed the Xenophobia and Rural Transformation research projects at iNCUDISA (Intercultural and Diversity Studies) in the Dept. of Sociology at UCT.

As a free-lance diversity practitioner, I have also conducted diversity workshops focusing on race, gender, intercultural communication, xenophobia, dis/ability, etc. at educational institutions.

My interests
critical diversity, social justice and transformation include: xenophobia, race, hybridity, disability and multicultural as well as intercultural communication.

My masters thesis (published by the IBKM, Carl von Ozzietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany in 2010) entitled: "The integration of adolescents of immigrant origin into the German education system. Investigating Everyday racism and Xenophobia: A case study of an integrated public secondary school in Germany" was completed in partial submission for my Masters in Diversity Studies (2009).

I facilitate diversity workshops and engage in consulting as well as diversity interventions. The workshops focus on race, gender, dis/ability, mutlicultural communication and xenophobia.


Critical Diversity, Social Justice and Transformation focusing on: - consulting, facilitating diversity workshops and engaging in diversity interventions.
Academic research focusing on xenophobia, race, hybridity and disability - qualitative data analysis

Ultimately, my aim is to employ my interpersonal, communication and academic skills in a manner in that serves to develop and reflect my capabilities in the work environment, as a team member, individual, co-facilitator or leader.
