"ETDP SETA is a dream to deal with compared to our primary SETA. (You know who, no doubt!) We have never had a problem with ETDP SETA during the last 13 years. I have always managed to get through to the switchboard, and queries and issues…"
"What is scary, is the number of SETAs who trust and believe the "recommendations/requirements" for material/learning resources, which, in many, if not all cases, are criteria that are drawn up by people who have been in the…"
"My sympathies Dave. The ETDP SETA has always done things so well, but I fear that the ETQA division is now on a downward slide into a black hole of abysmal failure of delivery.
I agree with you - why don't they just "take…"
"Yup, Percy! You noticed that as well!?. The timing is always puuurrrfect!
He did the same thing with his previous attempt to rob industry of the funding. Fortunately BUSA caught him out. Hope they are still wide awake as…"
"Hi chaps - I feel like a duck (old one at that) paddling furiously under the water at the moment. Either that, or I am chasing my tail.
Dying to comment on the brain-based stuff, but will get to it in a few days' time.
Keep the pot boiling…"
Lovely morning in Durban today!
How about setting up a new discussion link on "Brain -Based learning" on Skills-Universe. There is such interesting stuff for facilitators, assessors and programme designers to share and…"
"Hi Cas - love your thinking! We must have a chat over coffee/beer one day!
Thanks for sharing the readings - Some of them I have not come across, but I make a point of exposing our candidates (facilitators, assessors, material developers…"
"Outstanding discussion! Our "three Muskateers" are really on a roll! Love the reference to the understanding of formative and summative assessments. The problem is, how many of our dear SETA verifiers understand the difference between the…"
"Mmmm, I don't buy the story that "some work is better than no work". It still leads to total exploitation of desperate people who perform an essential service.
I think the time has come for these Domestics Workers to say…"
"R2 230.70 per month for a reliable person who runs and cleans a home, looks after the kids etc etc at the expense of her own life? It is still sheer exploitation of domestic workers. Shameful.
People who cannot afford these employees should do…"
"Yup! Quite a grey "fuzzy" area. - Typical of how the ETQA's do not talk to each other. Hopefully the QCTO will sort this out.
There are many such issues that need to be standardised (including the Verifiers who make their own…"
"I agree with Hannes 100%. We never return PoEs to the learners. Our QMS policy is to keep them for a minimum of 2 years AFTER verification - and you know how long some SETAs can take to verify! So it usually ends up about 4 - 5 years. -…"
I love the idea of a register and the idea of incompetent people being "struck off the roll" - just as they do to medical and legal practitioners who do not tow the line.
Perhaps this could be something that our…"

Hi Irene! Thank you for reading my article. and I do agree with you, there are challenges as much as there are in every area of life and business. We as people need to understand that challenges don't mean we must stop, they are infact the price we need to pay to get where we want to be. We're all paying a price in some way or another for what we want to achieve in life. I believe I have a lot to learn from you, With so much years of experience in the training field, I believe you've seen it all and you are an inspiration to many. We need people like you.
