What is the Ethical thing to do when...?

 What should one do if one discovers unethical conduct by a service provider who: Knowingly hires unqualified facilitators to facilitate learnerships? Does not monitor the learning in the classroom and learners' work? Changes facilitators willy-nilly because of pay disputes? Lets discipline deteriorate to unbearable levels ? Whose leaners fail to finish the programme because of the provider's failure to set up monitoring and evaluation during the year? Fails to pay the agreed minimum stipend to…See More

Minister Dr.B. Nzimande is the NSFAS Historic Debt relief enough a measure for NSFAS graduates to enter the labour market?

‘Jobs, jobs and jobs are the dividing line in many families between a decent life and a wretched existence. They are, to many, the difference between self-esteem and helplessness.’ Nelson Mandela.

The Minister of Higher Education and Training deserves an accolade for ensuring that students who qualified for graduation but could not because of outstanding fees to tertiary institutions who were beneficiaries of NSFAS are given further loans to enable them to receive their certificates.…

An Open letter to the Minister of Higher Education and the Minister of Training and Public Enterprises.

I am an unemployed graduate, a product of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme with more than six years in the labour market, seemingly with no prospect of ever getting a job, and the interests in the NSFAS loan accumulating that I am in serious debt even before I get employed. The fact that I am not the only product of this scheme facing this problem means the scheme will inevitably face a sustainability crisis in the not so distant a future. It is a fact that the country is facing… Continue

Is There a Debate On the Future of FET NATED Courses

Posted on August 2, 2010 at 11:30 8 Comments

Bureaucracy with its redtape can leave people misinformed thereby taking decisions that are in sharp contrast to national aspirations in matters of national importance. I was informed by authorities at one FET college that the DoHE&T is in the process of fazing out FET Nated courses which will be completely non-existent come year 2015. The said authorities were pretending to be talking from a well informed platform and they have already started doing away with N4, enrolling only their…

South Africa is confronted with the twin problems of skills shortages and unemployment. Thusanani closes this gap!
Young previously disadvantaged and unemployed graduates are provided with the skills that they require to successfully enter the world of work. Thereafter their placement with employers is also facilitated. People that need help unquestionably receive it! Thusanani translates to 'help each other.'
If you are interested in the above programme - we might be able to help you in January 2010. we've helped 1500 graduates in your situation... with great success and placements at the end of the road!
good luck!
let me know!

Fikile - there is no time like now. The IT industry is in constant change in order to meet the various global challenges to speed up and automate tasks that would normally take a long time to do. There are a number of personal or career development prospects that could be considered as alternatives. Remember, no matter what type of graduate you are, the learning should never end: hence the statement "Lifelong learning" being used in today's situation where industy competitiveness and the fight to survive amongst the "fittest" is evident. There is an excellent company that runs a number of learnerships e.g. Call Centre NQF 2 and 4, Technical Support NQF 4, System Support NQF 5, System Development NQF 5. Currently they also focus on running End User Computing NQF 3 for disabled individuals. Quite a number of Contact Centre NQF 2 & 4 learnerships also accommodate disabilities. I would encourage any interested young people between the age of 18 and 35, that are unemployed and not studying fulltime, are SA Citizens with no criminal record to fax their CV to (011) 205-8848 or send their CV to

Good luck.
