Which is a better LMS for corporate purposes? Moodle or JoomlaLMS?

I am looking for a no nonsense comparison of the pros and cons of Moodle and JoomlaLMS. I am looking at the implementation of blended-learning delivery and management for a corporate internal academy with some potential for external clients as well. Any advice or inputs on the suitability of either Moodle or JoomlaLMS would be appreciated. Other systems are not under consideration right now.See More

Enjoy the HRD expo everyone

Posted on October 7, 2012 at 17:03 2 Comments

For those of you attending the HRD expo, good luck and I hope you all have a fantastic time, with lost of networking and business opportunities. Of late there have been quite allot of pessimistic postings and a sense of stress and concern for many HRD professionals, but I sincerely hope that this expo provides some opportunity for positive gains for you, your organisations and the work that you do with your learners. I unfortunately am tied down this week, but do wish I was going up and…

A journey of passion, learning and adventure spanning 2,750 km in 33 days, from Cunene to Cape Town!

As learning professionals we often talk about learning as a structured, qualification-driven experience or perhaps an informal process than qualifies us by experience (QBE), well I think we have forgotten just how powerful adventure and personal challenges can be in driving intense learning about ourselves and the world around us. I know I have forgotten about how much setting a challenge of this scale could take me so much further within myself and in the value I add to this world and…

QCTO recruiting senior staff!

Posted on January 8, 2012 at 15:58 0 Comments

A snippet of news, it seems as though the QCTO are recruiting senior staff in the key areas of occupational qualification development and assessments, which must be a sign that the wheels are beginning to turn. I have also had a catch up with a colleague of mine who has been intimately involved with the design and development of a full qualification and what it will look like. I will post further detail with regards that shortly.

Where is the Trades aspect of the QCTO? Invisible?

With all the concern about the pending changes to the future of private providers, the uncertainty of the future of learnerships and the proposed roll-out of the National Artisan Moderating Body (NAMB) it is ironic that the demand for learnerships with a technical focus is growing exponentially. Judging by the trends below (obtained via trend analysis examining online searches in South Africa over the last 12 months), the demand is quite specifically focused on a limited number of…

Hi, Ashwell

I've posted a blog on transfer of learning.  The info that you provided in the training provider group is very valuable and I am afraid that some people might miss it.  Won't you please copy and paste it in response to my blog?

This is such an important topic and hopefully there will be more response.

Kind Regards

Wilma

Hi Ashwell... I wanted to explain the situation with Seta external moderation we are facing but we need to be friends for me to inbox you the details? anyway

we had a 1st visit - the verifyer tried to bribe us and we reported it, then we had another visit the verifyer had remedial comments - we took it up with the ETQA since all those remedial actions were "recommendations" and no real default on learner achievemnt as such... then we had another vist but we are struggling to get the report for that out of the verifyer? now in the process of requestiing the report they just reverted back to schedule another visit - BUT we dont know if there is any remedial actions they still require or what is the case! snce we are not getting report out of them?... what should we do?

Ten years ago, most Durban Universities did not offer a HR degree so students found alternatives route in HR management e.g. industrial psychology, labour studies ,etc. Where in your opinion would you say the future of Industrial Psychology is going?
