Constituents of Tourism Seta website

Posted on September 29, 2009 at 14:00 0 Comments

I recently found a new website been set up for people who are constituents of the Tourism & hospitality Seta. (THETA) Its very new so not a lot there, but I expect there to be some interesting discussions as it is not run by them but is independant, and is set up like Skills Universe. If you are a THETA constituent take a look at: http://working-with-theta.ning.com/

Hi Andrew
You actually make a very interesting point - and I am not sure how many people actually understand compliance in that as you explained the ETQA would like to see an 'audit function' whereby a tick box exercise would suffice whilst compliance is so totally different and also as I always explain to non compliance people that it is substance over form in other words 'watch me' and note how I do things to ensure that I can do it rather than tick box effect .... and not only make sure I have captured 1 to 10 but see how I do it... and ensure I am doing it properly! I am sure the new learning framework QCTO will certainly assist us in our compliance endeavours as this occupational 'qualification' provides impetus in the how and the readiness to perform rather than theory and the tick box (assessment on theory) attitude? I am preparing training material and am researching climbing as I think this is a very apt topic to align to the 'need' for compliance in the financial services arena so any input would be most welcome.
Best regards
Robyn

Hi Andrew
Great line of work - I work in compliance in the financial sector and have always wanted to provide training and compliance aligned to climbing and safety... as not many understand compliance 'the intangible' but when compared to the skill and compliance requirements needed for 'climbing mountains' there is a light bulb moment and compliance is the in thing :)
What kind of training do you facilitate? Regards Robyn
