Dr Andreas Gerhardus Velthuizen is an inspired knowledge practitioner and entrepreneur delivering services as general manager, action research coordinator, education & training practitioner and leadership innovation facilitator as part of the innovation of businesses and communities in Africa.

After an earlier Masters Degree in Strategic Studies at the University Of South Africa (UNISA), in 2007 he completed a Doctors Degree at the same university with the title “The Management of Knowledge: A Model for the African Renaissance”, a trans-disciplinary study dealing with the management of knowledge in Africa according to a trans-dimensional knowledge management model. The thesis presents a knowledge management approach to find solutions for international organizations and African society towards lasting peace, growth, competitiveness, and productivity in Africa. The study includes field studies done in Uganda, Kigali (Rwanda), and the International Criminal Tribunal in Arusha (Tanzania) and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

His former career of 34 years in the military (which included service in Namibia, Swaziland, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo) exposed him to intense experience on policy, strategic and operational levels in the public service and specifically the multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and international environment.

Dries has a passion for writing and learning. He is considered by his associates as a competent manager and experienced in research, learning facilitation, knowledge management, as well as producing solutions for policy, strategic decision-making, and action plans.

Andreas Gerhardus Velthuizen was born in 1956 and is married for twenty-seven years. He has two adult children (a son and a daughter). For the last twenty-four years, he resides north of the Magalies Mountains in Pretoria, the Capital of South Africa, from where he inter-connects with the local and international community through his vocation, as scholar, and as community leader.
