Please note that the Minister of Employment and Labour has, under section 43 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act No. 85 of 1993), after consultation with the Advisory Council for OHS, made the regulations in the schedule. The Ergonomics Regulations Act will come into operation on the date of publication in the Gazette.

The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) has issued a recall of all products from the Enterprise and Rainbow Chicken Limited companies, which have been found to have traces of Listeria.
“Given the findings of Listeria, it is clear that there has been a drop in the quality controls at these facilities. They have, as of this morning, been issued with safety recall notices according to Section 60(2) of the Consumer Protection Act,” said dti Director General Lionel October.

Early reports of tragic accidents never have full details. However, an earlier report of an accident at the Naval Base in Durban referred to "contract" workers. Then I picked up this report from SANews, which refers to "construction" workers.
First, we must express our condolences to the families of these workers and soldiers - who left in the morning and did not return at the end of the day, as a result of an accident at the workplace.
