Prof Quarraisha Abdool Karim - CAPRISA head - wins major award

"In his capacity as Chairperson of the South African National Aids Council (SANAC), Deputy President David Mabuza has today, Thursday, 28 May 2020, congratulated one of leading South African HIV researcher and Associate Scientific Director, Professor Quarraisha Abdool Karim, who recently won the Christophe Merieux Prize worth about R9,6 million for her pioneering work in the fight against HIV.

Minister Mkhize update on TVET students and returning South Africans

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has confirmed that 14 Limpopo TVET students, who have returned from China have all tested negative for the coronavirus. In addition, the Range resort will house 122 South African returning from Wuhan, Hubei Province in China.

The SANDF will direct the operation, and all the returning citizens, and the crew that brought them back will all be housed there. The resort staff will be screened first, and arrangements are made to provide them with medical cover, if needed.
