Hi Kagisho, yes it did sound interesting - didn't it?  Although that was quite some time ago, I have not heard of any constructive progress.  Maybe you could see what you can find out, suggested contacts:  the QCTO, ASDFSA, the SABPP.  I recall that in terms of the new QCTO process, we should have been asked for comment on a draft, but I certainly haven't seen one.  I'm sorry I can't respond better than that.  Maybe some of our members can give a better response.

Hi All,

I am looking for an external SDF to complete the WSP and ATR for a small company (approx. 50 employees). If anyone is interested please let me have costing for this. Please mail me on sherelmie@gmail.com. Thank you.

We are now almost 1/4 way through 2012 and still there is no indication as to how are going to move forward with the QCTO.  Most qualifications are expiring in June this year and we obviously need to start planning and working ahead.  Can anyone shed some light on the developments with QCTO?

What can we are providers do in terms of developing our new (and existing) qualifications?

Is anyone involved in a task team / group that I could join in order to learn more?

Hi Kathy, you have to link yourself with a company and register with a Seta that the company belongs to. You register as an SDF of the company, and is then asked if you are an external (independant) or internal SDF and who appointed you. The relevant Seta has the nessecary application form supported by an appointment letter from your company or stakeholder as evidence.  You can only operate as an ISDF if you have a company to link to. Hope that answers your question :)

Hi Nokwethemba

Please look in the Forum section, there is a detailed discussion there under the heading Version 10 OFO - it has a detailed response from the DHET answering your questions.

Hi Steven
We have been involved in the development of the compliance officer (CO)occupation for almost 8 months now and are hoping to have the compliance officer occupation registered separately on the OFO (this process has been undertaken through the Compliance organisation - the Compliance Institute of South Africa). Therefore, the compliance officer did not have a separate occupation on the OFO or a whole CO qualification per se. In line with the QCTO requirements and process the evaluation and analysis included the development of a CO 'curriculum / qualification' which the CI of SA anticipates registering in the near future.
The CI of SA are aligned to FASSET but they have not played an active role in the development of the compliance officer curriculum as this development has been undertaken by the Compliance Community Of Experts (Practice) in the compliance field through vast consultation and dialogue.
I must say that through this process it is evident that the resultant effect of the QCTO process will be fundamental not only to the achievement of qualifications specific to occupations but will also enable employers to manage recruitment, learning and development and reward et al aligned to standards/outcomes that are occupationally aligned.

continued: currently lists version 8.0 of the OFO. I am told version 9.0 will be out before the end of this year.)

Hi Des, Not on the qualifications as they are only in the initial stages of consultation and development. The idea is to dialogue broady to constitute the qualifications, not develop them and present for approval after the fact. So far only scoping and confirmation of the need has been sought.

However QCTO-wise qualifications are linked to occupations profiles. It is these that are referenced 224703 and 599402, not the qualifications. Search for the profiles on www.nopf.co.za clicking on OFO in the green bar and putting in a search word or the reference. The OFO is heirarchical, so for 224703, for example, you will find more detail in the unit group 2247. Thanks for the interest. (Note that the site currently
